AVI offers many different recycling options to the residents of the City of Dublin. Besides our regular curbside cart services for garbage, recycling, and organic waste, AVI provides large item bulky pickup, holiday tree recycling, curbside battery pickup, motor oil pickup, and textile pickup.
Recycling is collected weekly. Please have your carts at the curb the night before your scheduled collection day.

If you do not already have a kitchen compost pail, please contact AVI at (925) 479-9545 to request one.
Compostable bags, along with other bioplastics, are not accepted in the green bin. Compostable bags do not break down within the designated timeframe at the composting facilities and may leave behind microplastics that contaminate the compost. Instead, put your organic materials into the green bin loose. If you need to use a bag, go with a paper grocery bag, paper to-go container, newspaper, or pizza box instead!

You are able to place out 42 bags of garbage in one of your three free annual cleanups. Please call (925) 479-9545 for more information.
We start our routes at 6:00am each day. Please have your cart out by that time, or simply set it out the night before.
Please place your cart in the street at the curb the night before your scheduled pickup. Please place carts with at least three feet between each cart.

Household Hazardous Waste
Concrete, wall & floor coverings, plaster, metal scraps, furniture, wiring, etc. Please call (925) 479-9545 for additional details.
There’s no curbside pickup for hazardous waste, but we do collect household batteries and motor oil.
Place batteries in a clear heavy-duty plastic bag on top of the recycling bin (not inside). The driver will remove them during pickup.
For motor oil, request up to 2 containers and a ziplock bag for used filters. On collection day, set them at the curb—AVI will take them and leave empty ones for next time.
Electronic equipment such as cell phones, computers, monitors, televisions, and other items containing cathode ray tubes (CRTs)
Dry-cell household batteries should be placed in a heavy-duty plastic ziplock bag and set on top of the recycling cart for recycling. Improper battery disposal can cause fires, chemical leaks, and pollution.
Roll-Off & Special Waste Disposal
Yes, AVI offers 3 bulky item pickups per year from July 1st to June 30th. It resets every year. To schedule a bulky item pickup, please call Customer Service Representatives at (925) 479-9545. To see what is accepted in a bulky item pickup, please visit our bulky item pickup web page.
If your cart happens to be damaged or missing, please call our Customer Service Representatives at (925) 479-9545 to order a replacement cart.
If there is more recycling, organics, or garbage than will fit in your carts, you can:
• Schedule a large item pickup.
• Increase the size of your carts.
• Flatten and place extra cardboard (the amount that would fit in an empty cart) beside your recycling cart for collection.

Roll-offs are all prepaid services that will be visible on your account, but we do not require you to have our trash service to use our roll-offs.
The City of Dublin requires encroachment permits for the placement of roll-off containers in the public right of way. For more information, visit the City of Dublin permits page. AVI can place roll off containers on your driveway without the need for a City encroachment permit.

Household Hazardous Waste
There is no curbside collection for hazardous waste. However, we do have a household battery collection program for multi-family properties. Property managers can request a free battery container from AVI. All household batteries are accepted in the recycling program and are serviced quarterly. If you do not have a battery recycling container at your multi-family property, please reach out to your property manager to add this program to your complex.
AVI also hosts an annual household hazardous waste drop off event every Spring. Watch your mailbox for more information on event location and date. You can also drop off your household hazardous waste to one of the Alameda County Household Hazardous Waste facilities year round. For more information, visit Stopwaste.org/HHW

E-waste includes any item with a power cord or plug. This encompasses electronics such as TVs, monitors, and other devices that require electricity to operate. It also includes items containing cathode ray tubes (CRTs), which are commonly found in older televisions and computer monitors.
Large Item Collection Program
Multi-family properties are allowed three FREE large item collection roll-off dumpsters a year. Contact your property manager to schedule a large item collection.
- Furniture, Carpets, Mattresses
- Tires – Up to four (4) car tires (without rims)
- White Goods – Refrigerators, freezers (doors must be removed), water heaters or other similar household appliances
- Brown Goods – Electronic equipment such as stereos, VCR’s, personal digital assistants (PDAs), telephones, and other similar items
- E-Waste – Electronic equipment such as cell phones, computers, monitors, televisions, and other items containing cathode ray tubes (CRTs)

Roll-off dumpsters are excellent for a variety of projects. Whether you're doing spring cleaning, putting on a new roof, or constructing a new building, we have a dumpster that's the right size. There is no curbside collection for hazardous waste. However, we do have curbside collection for batteries. To properly dispose of batteries, please place all batteries inside a clear heavy duty plastic bag and put the bag on top of the recycling bin, NOT inside the bin.
